TANGEDCO is scheduled to install an FGD for a 600 MW unit at it's 1440 MW (4*210+1*600 MW) thermal power plant at village Mettur, Salem district of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The company is expected to float tenders for the same. At present, feasibility studies and phasing plans are ongoing. The project is expected to kick off in late 2020. RFQ for supply and installation of FGD are expected to be out by the fourth quarter of 2018. The major requirement will be FGD, stacker and reclaimer, earth work, cranes, pipes, installation, gypsum disposal, wet lime among others.

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited along with consultant Fichtner Consulting Engineers have submitted a feasibility report for implementation of a sea-water based flue gas desulphurization system in the 600 MW unit at its 1440 MW (4*210+1*600 MW) thermal power plant at village Mettur, Salem district of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The DPR for the FGD is already prepared. Tenders for the same is expected soon. The project requirements are: absorber system, gas-gas heater, spray headers and nozzles, mist eliminators & washing, agitators, quenching spray system, limestone grinding system, vacuum belt filter system, booster fans, ducting, low height wet chimney, FGD control room, dozers, wet ball mills, bucket elevator, gypsum dehydration, piles, spray headers, pumps (gypsum bleed, limestone slurry, auxiliary absorbent slurry with drive motor), tanks (absorbent, limestone storage, cooling water, process water, emergency slurry), silos, among others.
