Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited along with an EPC contractor L&T-Sargent & Lundy is carrying out the construction activities of the switch-yard area in a brownfield 1320 (2x660 MW) super-critical complex at the existing 1200 MW (2x600 MW) thermal power facility located at the Dongalia village, in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The synchronization of unit-3 (660 MW) was achieved in April 2018. Moreover, TG box up of unit-4 (660 MW) is expected in August 2018. Boiler and turbine-generator auxiliaries are supplied by L&T-MHPS. Currently, the project consultant, Lahmeyer International (I) Limited, has completed the site survey and selection of the area for implementation of an FGD. Further bids are expected soon. The project requirements are: absorber system, gas to gas heat exchanger, spray headers and nozzles, mist eliminators & washing, agitators, quenching spray system, slurry re-circulation pumps, oxidation blower, gypsum bleed pumps, limestone grinding system, limestone slurry pumps, vacuum belt filter system, auxiliary absorbent slurry pumps with drive motor, piping, valves, auxiliary absorbent tanks, limestone storage tank, limestone silos, process water storage and pumping system, booster fans, ducting, dampers along with supports, slurry piping along with associated valves, low height wet chimney, FGD control room, dozers, wet ball mills, bucket elevator, gypsum dehydration, piles, spray headers, cooling water tank, process water tank, emergency slurry tank, among others.

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited is carrying out the price bid evaluation of an EPC contractor for the FGD system package for the 1320 (2x660 MW) super-critical brownfield thermal power complex at the existing 1200 MW (2x600 MW) facility located at the Dongalia village, in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. L&T, GE Power India, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems India Pvt Ltd, Doosan Power Systems India Pvt Ltd, and ISGEC Heavy Engg. Ltd are the major contenders in the race. However, BHEL failed to qualify in the techno-commercial part of the bid due to some issues regarding their technical parameters. The EPC contractor L&T-Sargent & Lundy has achieved the full load for the unit-4 (660 MW), while the unit-3 (660 MW) has been commissioned. The 765 kV Switchyard has been synchronized with the grid. 50% of the works are pending in the natural draught cooling towers. The power evacuation works are yet to be completed by the MPPTCL. The project envisages Auxiliary Heat Technology instead of Gas-Gas Heater (GGH) to recover and utilize additional heat from flue gas. The project requirements are: absorber system, spray headers and nozzles, mist eliminators & washing, agitators, quenching spray system, limestone grinding system, vacuum belt filter system, booster fans, ducting, low height wet chimney, FGD control room, dozers, wet ball mills, bucket elevator, gypsum dehydration, piles, spray headers, pumps (gypsum bleed, limestone slurry, auxiliary absorbent slurry with drive motor), tanks (absorbent, limestone storage, cooling water, process water, emergency slurry), silos, among others.

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited along with an EPC contractor L&T-Sargent & Lundy has achieved the full load for the unit-4 (660 MW) of the 1320 (2x660 MW) super-critical brownfield thermal power complex at the existing 1200 MW (2x600 MW) facility located at the Dongalia village, in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh. The coal handling plant equipment commissioning and a trial run is in progress. The 765 kV Switchyard has been synchronized with the grid. The owner has floated an EPC contract bid for the FGD package on June 2018. But, due to correction in tender fees, a corrigendum has been released. The pre-bid meeting for the FGD was held in which L&T, GE Power India, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems India Pvt Ltd, Doosan Power Systems India Pvt Ltd, and ISGEC Heavy Engg. Ltd had participated. However, BHEL failed to qualify in the techno-commercial part of the bid due to some issues regarding their technical parameters. A price bid is expected t open soon. Tractebel Engineering Pvt Ltd is the project engineering consultant for implementation of an FGD. The project envisages Auxiliary Heat Technology instead of Gas-Gas Heater (GGH) to recover and utilize additional heat from flue gas. The award date of the wet flue gas desulphurisation system is expected by June 2019.
