Udupi Power Corporation Limited's 1600 MW expansion (2x800 MW) at the existing thermal power station of 1200 MW (2x600 MW) located in Udupi, Karnataka is getting delayed due to the pending power purchase agreement with the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited. Also, the owner is in search of financial institutions to fund the project. UPCL is a fully owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited. Environmental clearance was granted in August 2017. Further bids are expected soon. The project requirement are: steam turbine and its auxiliaries, generator and its auxiliaries, supercritical technology boiler, water-cooled condenser, vacuum pumps, boiler feed pumps and its drives, feed pump motor, economizer, air preheater, deaerating heater and closed heaters, boiler drum, ID, FD and PA fans, superheater, suction basket strainer, furnace system, furnace chamber, ESP and its auxiliaries, chimney, ash handling system, water treatment plant, DM plant, fire fighting system, turbine oil purification system, switch-yard equipment, seawater intake and outfall system, air ventilation system, coal handling system, cranes, thermo mechanically treated steel, DG sets, rolling shutters,C&I system, down shop lead (DSL) crane, carbon steel and pipe, stacker cum reclaimer, wagon tippler, piles, reinforced steel, structural steel, MS & Electro forged gratings, conveyor belts, side arm charger, FGD, SCR, among others

RFQ for sea intake and outfall system contractor is expected by October 2018. RFQ for an EPC contractor is expected by November 2018, instead of Q3 2018.

The proposed Udupi power plant 1600 MW will require skilled and semi-skilled personnel during construction and operational phase. Nearly 1500 personnel will be required during construction phase.
