Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd is undertaking a selection process for an EPC contractor for its brownfield ammonia-urea project with a capacity 2200 MTPD of ammonia and 3850 MTPD of urea at Barauni in Jharkhand. The project consultant is PDIL. The equipment requirements are Compressors, Turbines, Exchangers, Vaporizers, Subcoolers, Filters, Pumps, Heaters, Towers, Vessels,Storage systems, Cooler, Furnaces, Stacks, Converters, Boilers, Drums, Blowers, Economizers, Preheaters, Reactors, Tanks, Reactors,Evaporators, Condensers, Separators, Ejectors, Absorbers, Prilling towers, Absorbers, Heat exchangers, Columns Generators. Toyo Engineering has emerged as the lowest bidder while two other technically qualified EPC contractors - L&T-Technip and ThyssenKrupp India - had put in higher bids. The owner is setting up three similar ammonia-urea ammonia plants and he is keen on awarding these contracts to each of the three qualified EPC contractors at a common negotiated price but it is now learned that ThyssenKrupp India is not willing to bring down their cost to the L-1 level quoted by Toyo Engineering. Barauni unit is scheduled to be awarded to L & T - Technique, which will be decided at the Board Meeting on 7th April.

The urea reactor installation is ongoing at the site, Other Civil work is also ongoing. The procurement is still ongoing, the total construction incremental progress in October, Nov & December is 6 %, now the total 82 % cunstruction work has been completed. the erection of the ETP plant is ongoing. The project's Mechanical completion and Commercial Production Date have been rescheduled from Jan to May 2021 & May to October 2021 respectively.

Three equipment ammonia convertor, Urea stripper, and Urea reactor has been reached at the site of Barauni. The procurement is still ongoing, 76% construction work has been completed, but due to lack of labour construction work is running slow.The project's Mechanical completion and Commercial Production Date has been re-scheduled frm Jan to May 2021 & May to October 2021 respectively.

The procurement is still ongoing, the installation work is ongoing, The project's Mechanical completion and Commercial Production Date has been scheduled for Jan 2021 & May 2021 respectively.
