In order to take forward its second petroleum pipeline project with Nepal, IOCL has send a team of delegation for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The proposed 50 km pipeline with a capacity of 1.60 MMTPA will be laid from IOCL Siliguri (West Bengal) Depot to Nepal Oil Corporation depot at Duwagadi, Jhapa (Nepal) which is being constructed in 7 hectares of land with a capacity of 40,000 kilolitres, and with a budget of Rs 145 Cr for the construction of fuel storage facility. Team of experts carried out the survey in Batasi in northern West Bengal, about 3 kilometres from the India-Bangladesh border and Jyamirgadi in Jhapa and also studied three rivers - Mechi, Ninda and Hadiya on the east-west highway. The initial survey suggested that 35 km of the pipeline will be in Indian territory and 15 km within Nepal’s side. A detailed project report will be ready by mid-May this year. Rs.150 Cr. has been approved by the board of directors for the construction of Siliguri-Jhapa Petroleum Pipeline.
