The project is getting delayed due to forest clearance Stage II pending at DFO. Local villagers and environmental activists had protested over provisional stage-2 forest clearance. However, Kolkata High Court has given green nod to forest clearance. The project envisages the construction of an upper dam, a lower saddle dam, a water conductor system, and an underground powerhouse. An agreement was signed between the owner and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for financial assistance. This project obtained environment clearances and forest clearances stage -1 from MOEF&CC. The owner has selected J-Power corporation as a project management consultant for the same.
