Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited(SJVNL) plans to construct a 175MW greenfield hydroelectric plant in Bardang, District-Lahaul & Spiti of Himachal Pradesh. It is a run-of-the-river-type project proposed to harness the hydel potential of the river Chenab. The diversion structure is located about 10 km upstream of Udaipur town in Lahaul and Spiti district and the powerhouse site is near Udaipur Town. WAPCOS LTD. is preparing the DPR of the project. Ramkey Enviro Services Ltd. is preparing EIA/EMP report for the same. The SIA study is in progress and it is in the advanced stage of completion. CWC has approved the hydrology report of the project. Geotechnical investigation and topographical surveys have been completed and it was approved by GSI.WAPCOS has also been a PMC for the project. Detailed design of the dam and its allied structures have been completed and the TEC of the project is yet to be granted by CEA. Package-wise bids are expected. Preparation of tender is yet to start for civil works. Further bids are expected soon. The major requirement will be a Pelton turbine, turbine-generator (alternator), station transformers, generator transformer, dumpers/loaders, excavators, TBM (tunnel boring machine), raise boring machine, unit auxiliary transformers (UAT), air compressor, digital governor, trash rack, main inlet valve (MIV), butterfly valve, non-return valve, radial gates, vertical lift gates, steel-lined penstock, EOT crane, transmission towers, power cables, monitor and monitor control unit, computerized control system, fireproofing system (Mulsifyer System, sprinkler system, etc), forced air circulation system (ID fans, blower, etc) among others.

CWC has approved the hydrology report. Forest clearance (stage-1) is pending at DFO. WAPCOS has also been selected as PMC. Preparation of the civil work package tender is in progress and its specification finalization has been completed. Further bids are expected soon.
